Texas Children's Hospital: Jan & Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute
Located in the Texas Medical Center, the institute is one of the world's first basic research facilities dedicated to childhood neurological diseases. Pieper built out two floors — the vivarium on level two for animal research, and labs and procedure rooms on levels two and 10 — of this LEED Gold Certified, 400,000 sq. ft. building.
Since the building was occupied with ongoing experiments throughout construction, Pieper monitored noise and structural vibration very closely. We executed the power distribution and difficult routing through the building so that it can handle large power loads. Because they are clean room environments, the vivarium and procedures rooms had extremely tough specifications, but our foreman successfully implemented dust-free installation of the electrical systems.
